For some reason I can only do about one or two holiday books and then I’ve had my fill. I find myself gravitating toward winter/snowy books I’m currently doing a reread of Beartown & and I just finished up Bluebird Day! Do you have any recs that would fit that theme?
I totally respect a single or double dose of holiday reading before feeling full up 😅 It's a very read one, read them all kind of thing, really! I tend to go through them so quickly, my appetite tends to have a time span duration rather than number of books. I love Beartown! That's a series a definitely want to revisit at some point and read straight through. I actually do have some wintery recs: https://thatbookishlife.com/2024/01/14/7-wintery-reads-for-your-tbr/ I would also add The Frozen River to this list.
I’m not a big romance reader but I completely understand the imperative to read calming, fluffy books. I’m currently listening to Caledonian Rd on audio and balancing that with Last Chance in Paris by Lynda Marron which I’m thoroughly enjoying.
I really disliked The Corrections when I read it (back in 2008, I think?), so I'm unsure why I picked up Freedom when that came out. However, I LOVED that one. I remember lugging around that massive hardback on public transport because I couldn't put it down. I've been wanting to do a retread because again, it's been so long that I don't remember anything about it, just the vibes while reading. I read Crossroads not too long ago and really enjoyed as well. I've been thinking of going back to The Corrections now that I'm older so at least if I still dislike it, I can have a more critical eye towards it.
Also, have just saved that sloppy joe recipe. I think my partner, who's from NZ, will get a kick out of it.
Hi! American but live in Australia. Yes, like a savoury mince but a saucy one. The sauce isn't too thin though, so the consistency generally holds up well, although dipping a piece of bread into any sauce that's run off is nice. 🙂
All I Want Is You has been my favorite holiday read so far this year.
This is one I'm for sure planning to read! Good to hear you enjoyed.
I hope it resonates with you like it did for me. When you read it, I would love to hear your thoughts.

The Lazy Elf peppermint mocha is a genius move! Last year I enjoyed Faking Christmas by Kerry Winfrey if you haven't read it.

Hi there! I’m an Australian and I find sloppy joes absolutely mystifying. Are they like savoury mince? Don’t they slide off the buns?

Sounds good! Might give it a whirl!
