The first signs of spring are so life giving. I'm looking forward to Us Fools - do you have a favorite from Two Dollar Radio?

I really need to read more Two Doller Radio titles because I've enjoyed the few I have read! A Mouthful of Air might be my favorite? And I really need to get to They Can't Kill Us Until They Kill Us.

Do you have any titles to recommend?

I live in Australia and it has been terribly hot. I've been longing for Autumn and it finally arrived today, so I'm relieved and happy. The hot weather has been exhausting.

It's funny you should mention Cider House Rules. I'm just in the middle of writing my newsletter which involves reminiscing about reading The World According to Garp about 45 years ago. I'm not sure if I read Cider House Rules, (it was published a bit later) but I was a big John Irving Fan back in the day.

I love all your links and recs. Great newsletter!

I certainly understand looking forward to cooler temps at the end of summer! It's always so strange to me to think about people in another part of the world experiencing the exact opposite season! Happy autumn!

I will absolutely need to check out your thoughts on TWATG! That's the next title I'd like to read from Irving.

Thank you for reading ❤

Glad you enjoyed Cider house rules. I love summer as well, I'm from Barcelona and it's been raining quite a lot recently, which is weird tbh hahaha

I did not realize you were quite so far away! It was rainy here today too. Rainy weekends are made for reading, I think 😁

Spring 🙌🏻🌱my favorite time of year!!! Well I basically bookmarked your whole links and love section 😂 I can’t wait to peruse those! I’m also eager to pick up Wild Dark Shore, the buzz put me off, which means I’ll read it later this year 🤣

The internet reads were good this week! I think bc I didn't have much time to browse last week. And I totally feel you on the buzz for Wild Dark Shore! I almost didn't pick it up but I had an ALC and nothing else queued up so sort of started it on a whim. Like I said it sucked me in quickly and that's what I was looking for! I definitely don't think it's a bad idea to wait for the initial hype wave to die down. That always helps me better enjoy books.

This is my favorite time of year too, Stephanie! I think it's the delight every time that it's actually warm here in March and April in Wisconsin, and then the contrast with the devastation when it inevitably snows again, followed by the delight again at the melt. Such a tantalizing tease heading into summer!

Yes! I always say I enjoy experiencing the range of weather Ohio provides... That is until we're into the depths of winter and I'm SO over it! It does make nice weather that much sweeter though! This time of year just feels so promising and somehow hopeful.

I had to wait forever long for a library copy of Us Fools! I'm glad it's being read though! Hope you enjoy it too. I'm looking forward to Elegy, Southwest! Are you far enough in to have an impression yet? I don't think I've read any reader reviews.

It's very well written and I like it, but probably a little too heavy on artists for my personal taste—for some reason, that topic tends to be a turnoff for me. It's quite good though, a bit melancholy.

Haha, artists/the art world is always something I'm slow to warm up to as well! I don't even know why 😅
