Omg finally someone else who read Lurlene McDaniel 😅 I've tried explaining her books to people in Australia and they are so confused hahaha. I feel like those were the peak Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul years, too.
🙌 I could not get enough of Lurlene McDaniel! I would tear through those books and I read so many! I feel like I've only seen maybe one other person mention reading her books growing up though. There MUST be more of us! She has so many books! And I feel like Lurlene McDaniel's books walked so The Fault in Our Stars could run 😄
I definitely also read some Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul! Pretty sure I got those as gifts more than once.
There are definitely some benefits of going week to week! I never guessed it was something I'd miss, but I am nostalgic for that feeling of having the one big show we were all watching on Sunday nights at the same time, or when you looked forward to a certain night of the week because your favorite lineup of shows were on. Those were the days! Week to week just doesn't have the same feeling to me anymore and I prefer to get fully immersed in a show and watch 1-2 episodes a night as I have time. You do give some things up watching a show straight through though, I'll admit that! But also I hate feeling like streaming platforms are arbitrarily holding episodes back from he - HA!

Thank you for highlighting the importance of public libraries! My wife and I live in DC and are fortunate to have a great library system that my wife uses often to check out novels. I look forward to the time when our child is old enough to take part in kids’ story time programs so that we can instill a love of reading in our daughter. It’s so sad that libraries have become a new front in the culture wars; they are a vital public good especially for lower income folks who may not have access to computers and technology.

Libraries perform such a valuable role in society! It's hard to imagine any institution less worthy of attacks, really.
