March Reading Favorites
Plus, must-have dry shampoo, the near end of my shelf saga, and The Weekly What
I read 22 books in March (well, so far, at least. There are still the better part of two days left in the month!) Here are my five favorites from this month’s reading:
Tell me:
Have you read any of these?
What did you read and/or love in March?
Anything, let’s chat!
What I’m…
Reading
The Bee Sting by Paul Murray. Quite a long read at 645 pages, I really liked this and now I see why the ending is so polarizing. FWIW I really appreciated that ending!
Worry by Alexandra Tanner. Girls meets Patricia Lockwood’s No One Is Talking About This; loved. {my full review}
Sleeping Giants by Rene Denfeld. Eh, fine, but forgettable.
Listening
Apples Never Fall by Liane Moriarty. I liked this okay. Read so I could watch the TV adaptation.
The Exvangelicals by Sarah McCammon. I am always called to books unpacking the tangled web of Evangelical Christianity and right wing extremism.
The Ezra Klein Show: The Deep Conflict Between Our Work and Parenting Ideals
Watching
Air (Prime Video). This is about Nike’s launch of Air Jordans. Good, very watchable.
Priscilla (Max). I found this very watchable though I think most viewers would find it boring if I’m being honest.
Anatomy of a Fall (Hulu). My husband and I both fell asleep watching this and we, so far have not circled back to finish. DNF?
The Bachelor (My TV? I don’t know where people watch this. My husband records it and it’s waiting there for us. I’m sure it streams somewhere.) This is the only show we watch week to week and therefore never feels like we’re “watching” in the same way we are other shows.
Apples Never Fall (Peacock). The book was way better, but this seems to be holding my husband’s attention and I’m finding it watchable.
Eating & Drinking
Beer and Brown Sugar Kielbasa and Sauerkraut in the slow cooker (though I make it with smoked turkey sausage) + Pierogis
This Sheet Pan Mustard Salmon meal is a frequent flier on our menu
So is this Queso Chicken Chili (slow cooker or Instant Pot)
Ham + Potatoes Au Gratin
Links + Loves
I’m a convert to this dry shampoo that I actually found by way of my tween daughter. It’s light in both texture and smell and doesn’t leave a chalky residue on my dark hair (all vital!) and works the way I need. Highly recommend! Before now I was using Living proof.
For months I’ve been hemming and hawing about whether to add some new shelves to my reading room. I finally decided I wanted to, then hemmed and hawed about what kind of shelves, because this is what I do. Thennn I finally decided to add another set of the same shelves I already have (surprise!) just to find out the color I want is back ordered - womp, womp. But that’s okay, something to look forward to in early June!
Appreciated
