I love your wrap ups so much!! July was a bust of a reading month for me (but June was so so good…the ebbs and flows of reader life 🤓). My standout read was Porcupines! It was quiet and slow and witty and just felt like the right book at the right time for me.
Read the Future Saints earlier this year based on so many people saying it was for fans of Daisy Jones and The Six. I really enjoyed it but was not expecting the ending at all. I listened on audio and found myself trying to cry at stoplights 😭😭
Love your wrap ups, Stephanie! (I think I say that every week but they are a favorite for me!) definitely doing to Shrimp Pasta this week and may need to get those bowls- we are in the same boat- so may pastas, deconstructed bowl type situations that my bowls can’t keep up with 😂

Highly recommend the pasta and I'm feeling very evangelical about these bowls too! They've really been a nice functional addition and they make meals feel a little fancy in a very satisfying way.
I was really happy to see John of John on the Booker list! I enjoyed it so much and think it's well deserving of the praise it's receiving. I think the Book Riot hype likely nudged me along in picking it up too!

The Witch’s Orchard. I feel the same as you do about the mystery/thriller genre and this was a good solid one that worked for me as well. I liked the depiction of Appalachia and really liked the main character. I also felt the audio was fantastic, and the narrator nailed the accents. I have an audio galley of the next in the series and I’ll be happy to get to it.
My top reads of July were both backlist: Girl A and Nesting.
I too was surprised by how much I enjoyed Alan Opts Out! It easily could have gone off the rails in a lot of ways but I found it very entertaining! Glad you enjoyed it also.
I'll be interested to hear what you think of the next Annie Gore, the premise does sound intriguing! I don't know that it will be a priority for me, but will definitely earmark it for next time I'm in the mood for that kind of story. I love the Appalachian elements.
And glad to hear you enjoyed Girl A. I remember you saying you loved The Death of Us as well.
I just received a copy of John of John and am looking forward to it. I also saw The Odyssey and agree, I love seeing a movie meant for the big screen in the theater. I'm also always reminded of how fun it is to go see a movie with other people and talk about it after - what a nostalgic joy!
